Islah Party militants move to take over Bab al-Mandab Strait

TAIZ, Aug. 25 (YPA) – The “Islah Party” militants moved on Tuesday towards areas of Taiz to take over Bab al-Mandab Strait in the province, a sources said.

The sources affirmed that the Islah move came after taking control of the “35th Brigade” positions, and establishing a camp in Maqatara Heights overlooking the Strait backed and funded by Turkey.

The sources explained that the Taiz axis leadership loyal to the Islah Party transported hundreds of militants, with an arsenal of weapons and ammunition from Al-Ma`afar and Al-Shamayatayn district of Taiz, to the administrative headquarters in Lahj Governorate.

Additionally, the sites in Jahliah area are strategic importance that overlook the areas of Ras al-Arah, Tawr al-Baha and Bab al-Mandab, and they can be used as monitoring sites and a threat to international navigation.
