German Health Minister is skeptical of Russian COVID-19 vaccine

SANAA, Aug 12 (YPA) –  German Health Minister Jens Spahn on Wednesday said he was skeptical about Russia becoming the first country to grant regulatory approval for a vaccine for Covid-19 disease, saying that the most important thing is that the vaccine is safe and has been tested.

“It’s not just about being the first in some way, it’s about getting an effective vaccine that has been tested and therefore safe,” Spahn told Deutschland Funk Radio.

“In order to gain confidence in such a vaccine, I think it is very, very important, even during a pandemic, to properly conduct the relevant studies and tests and make them public.” The problem is that we know very little about him as the Russian authorities do not deal transparently. ”

The Russian vaccine, which will be called “Sputnik 5” in honor of the first satellite in the world launched by the Soviet Union, has not yet completed the final tests, and regulatory approval came after less than two months of human tests.
