UAE targets cultural identity in Socotra

SOCOTRA, Aug. 5 (YPA) – United Arab Emirates occupation forces on Wednesday implemented first official UAE event to obliterate the Yemeni identity on the island of Socotra, Local sources reported

According to the sources, an officer in the UAE intelligence service who is originally from Socotra, Captain Abdullah Ahmed Saeed al-Anbali al-Muhairi, was tasked from Abu Dhabi to spread emirati heritage and culture, and to form special teams in various cities and directorates of the island.

The sources pointed out that the UAE intelligence officer, was assigned to run competitions and cultural events accompanied by songs glorifying Zayed and the rulers of the UAE.

This came after the UAE-backed “Southern Transitional Council” militias took control of Hadeboh in mid-June and established a number of camps on the island.
