SANAA, July 23 (YPA) – The water level in the Marib Dam has increased after the influx of torrential rains in the country in the past two days to about 270 million cubic meters.
Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Abdulmalik al-Thour said in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) on Thursday that the amount of torrents flowing into the Marib Dam Lake last Wednesday reached about 80 million cubic meters.
He pointed out that the amount of water inside the lake of the dam is now about 270 million cubic meters, and the storage capacity of the dam as a maximum reaches 400 million cubic meters.
The Minister expected to a large extent the fullness of the dam lake during the coming period as a result of the heavy rainy season at the present time, warning of the danger of high levels of water in the dam or reaching its maximum.
He called on those concerned to open the valves of the dam and gradually empty the quantities of water for precaution in case the flow of torrents continues during the coming period, which will lead to the fullness of the dam.
