Minister of Awqaf submits apology, Parliament refers case to relevant committee

SANAA, July 20 (YPA) – The Parliament listened on Monday to an apology by Minister of Endowments and Guidance Najib al-Ajji about arbitrary actions by several officials in the ministry and director of the Awqaf Office in the Capital Sanaa against families of martyrs and the House member Mohammed al-Radhi in Asr area.

In the apology, the Minister of Awqaf pledged that this would not be repeated.

The House of Representatives decided to refer the matter to the Justice and Endowments Committee to take the necessary action with the relevant government side.

On Wednesday, the Parliament directed the National Salvation Government to prevent arbitrary actions that violate the law and order and to stop director of the endowment office in the capital Sanaa from work and refer him for investigation.

This came against the backdrop of a complaint raised to the Parliament by a number of families of martyrs and residents of Asr area in the capital Sanaa city, including the Parliament’s member Mohammed al-Radhi, concerning the arbitrary actions they were exposed to by the Endowments Office Director in the capital who sent security patrols to surround their homes and close their shops to force them to lease them, as they said.
