ABYN, June 12 (YPA) – Dozens of al-Islah militants were killed and wounded on Thursday in an attack launched by the UAE’s Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias in Abyan province, southern Yemen.
Local sources said that the STC militias carried out offensive operations targeting al-Islah militants in the Shuqrah, Ja’ar and Al-Tarya fronts, during which the STC was able to take control of the Site of Jabal Saywad near the coastal city of Shugrah.
Two tanks and a number of armored and military vehicles belonging to the Islah militants were destroyed in the attack, according to the sources.
Witnesses in the city of Shuqrah said that earlier in the day, they have seen several armored vehicles and military pickups withdrawing towards Shabwah province.
They also pointed out that the withdrawal of al-Islah militants came after an attack by the STC militias on the positions of Camp Qarn al-Kalasi and Wadi Sala.
