STC’s leader reveals plan to establish Saudi base in Socotra

SANAA, May 5 (YPA) – Vice-President of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) Hani bin Burik on Monday revealed a plan to establish a Saudi military base in Socotra Archipelago province.

This came in the context of his welcome and blessing to the recent deployment of Saudi forces in the province.

Bin Burik’s announcement of the plan came in response to a tweet by head of “ News Yemen” website, affiliated to Tariq Afash forces in the West Coast, criticizing the attack of the Islah Party (Brotherhood)’s media on the deployment of Saudi forces in Socotra Archipelago.

He said: “The south welcomes, and God willing it will be the largest military base for Great Saudi Arabia outside the kingdom and in its second country ( the south) on the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean and at the entrance of the Gulf of Aden in the most important way of international trade linking the east with the west.”
