Industry Ministry directs to prevent import of apples

SANAA, April 28 (YPA) – The Ministry of Industry and Trade instructed to prevent the import of apples to encourage and support domestic production of this crop.

The Minister of Industry and Trade Abdul Wahab Al-Durra stated in a statement hat the local production of apples doubled significantly during this season.

He stressed the importance of the decision to prevent importation to spare the local farmer the loss due to unfair competition with the external product.

Al-Durrah pointed out that the government aims to protect and encourage the national agricultural product from various cash crops to cover the needs of the local market in a manner that enhances the sovereignty and independence of the country and preserves the financial capabilities of foreign currencies that are drained in importing foreign products and goods.
