43 markets for selling “Qat” closed in capital Sanaa
SANAA, April 2 (YPA) – The Public Works and Roads Office in the capital Sanaa on Thursday closed 43 random markets for selling Qat leaves, as a precautionary measure to combat the Corona virus.
“During the past two days, 12 markets in Sha’oub district, 14 markets in Bani al-Harith district, 12 markets in Maeen district, and five markets in al-Sabeen district were closed,” Director of Markets Department Hussein Meayad said in a statement to Yemen Press Agency.
Meayad indicated that there are 96 random Qat markets targeted by the closure in the capital Sanaa.
Closing the random Qat markets comes in implementation of the precautionary measures approved by the Higher Ministerial Committee for Epidemics Control, he added.
He explained that the Higher Committee approved the transfer of the random markets from the main streets and entrances of residential neighborhoods to the specified open areas.
