STC’s official attacks Hadi after sacking off Mahrah’s governor

MAHRAH, Feb. 24 (YPA) – The Vice President of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), Hani Ben Brik launched a verbal attack on the exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi over sacking Yemen’s Mahrah governor Rajeh Bakrit.

Ben Brik described Hadi’s decision as “Ikwani”, referring to the Islah party, a Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and as a “violation of the Riyadh Agreement”

“Sacking off  the governor of Mahra away from being a new violation of the Riyadh agreement added to all the previous violations obstructing the implementation of the agreement, is a very strong evidence that reveals the one who is being affected by the coalition’s move to control the port and the border outlets  through which smuggling is carried out,” Ben Brik said on his Twitter account.

He added that the dismissal was “a stupid and quick step by the “Muslim Brotherhood,” promising the ” Hadi’s government  ” that the decision of dismissing  Bakrit “will speed up the resolution of things”.

For more than two years, Mahrah governor Rajeh Bakrit, who is being  accused of receiving instructions from the leadership of the UAE-backed STC, has committed violations and crimes against the sons of Mahrah, in addition to looting public funds and establishing military units serving Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

He has pushed his militia to support Saudi forces that stormed and took control of a border crossing with Oman last week following the withdrawal of the sons of the Mahrah tribes from the port.

Over the past years, Saudi Arabia has tried to control the ports, beaches and institutions of Mahrah province, while the province has been witnessing protests over the past two years rejecting the Saudi military presence in the province and its violations of Yemeni sovereignty.
