Tribal gunmen ambush Saudi military patrol in Mahrah

MAHRAH, Feb. 18 (YPA) – The security situation in Mahrah province is moving in a different direction, with the expansion of the interests of the Saudi occupation, eastern Yemen.

Local sources in Mahrah confirmed that a military patrol of the Saudi occupation, on Monday, was ambushed by tribal gunmen on the way to the border port of Shahin.

The sources added that violent clashes took place between the tribal gunmen and the militias of the Saudi occupation, without mentioning any casualties from both sides, while the gunmen fled.

The sources explained that the Saudi militias, which control the city of Al-Ghaydha, the capital of the province, promised the sons of the tribes of Mahrah, whom they called “outlaws “, to strike with an iron hand.

The sources indicated that the military patrol, consisting of military vehicles and pickups of the so-called special task forces, was on the task of investigating the security situation and the inspection of the customs cargo port between Yemen and Oman.

Earlier, Ahmed Balhaf, Ahmed Balhaf, the head of external communication for Mahrah sit-in on Monday confirmed that the Saudi occupation forces in Mahrah province obstructed commercial traffic at Shahin border port in eastern the province prevented the transit of commercial goods.

Balhaf said in a statement that these aggressive actions have created resentment and discontent among citizens as a result of their prejudice to their living interests and the economic situation in the province

It was natural that the reaction of the citizens to stand up to these violations and abuses affecting state institutions by the Saudi occupation forces.

In 2015, UAE forces arrived in Mahrah under the cover of the UAE Red Crescent to carry out humanitarian work, and were able to recruit four batches of skilled sons, each of which includes 500 university-educated recruits, until 2019.

In early 2017, Saudi Arabia took control of Al-Ghaydha airport as part of its efforts to implement its new old project, to build its oil pipelines from the Al Kharkhir region, through Yemeni skilled territory, to the port of Nashton overlooks the Arabian Sea.

Al-Mahra’s sons announced their opposition to the Saudi project in early 2018, carrying out several popular protests, led by former provincial undersecretary Sheikh Ali Salem al-Harizi, who was removed from office in July 2018.

Sheikh Ali Salem al-Harizi called on all sheikhs and social figures in August 2019 to support security and stability and the state institution in the province, which is being violated by the Saudi occupation forces and their militias.
