SANAA, Jan. 2 (YPA) – Taiwan’s chief of general staff, General Shen Yi-ming has been killed, along with several other people after a helicopter crash in Taiwan, media reported on Thursday.
Defense ministry said earlier in the day that a senior military official was missing after an emergency landing of a helicopter in the north of the country.
A rescue operation is under way in search of the 13 people on board the helicopter, including General Shin Yi-ing, chief of the army’s general staff, the ministry added.
The ministry confirmed that people were still missing, including Shin, while several people were found alive..
The incident comes a week before the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for January 11.
