MAHRAH, Nov. 11 (YPA) – Activists on social media launched an online campaign at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, denouncing Saudi military interventions and their ambitions in Mahrah province in eastern Yemen.
The activists said the campaign demands the rejection of the Saudi military presence in Mahrah province.
Riyadh has sought to deploy its soldiers and military vehicles in various camps and locations, some in residential areas, all outside official frameworks.
The activists questioned the purpose of the presence of these forces in the province, which is far from conflicts and military confrontations, a safe province that did not experience any security imbalances. But insecurity and chaos came after the arrival of Saudi forces that worked to establish militias, violate human rights, and seek to plunder the country’s wealth.
The campaign participants stressed that their efforts are aimed at addressing the international community and influential international institutions with the plan of Saudi Arabia’s occupation of Mahrah province, as well as exposing Saudi violations against sovereignty and Yemeni human beings.
The campaign’s organizers said that the Saudi military presence in conflict-free zones is a clear indication of the coalition’s malicious intentions to control waterways, plunder wealth and ensure that Yemen remains in constant conflict.
For a year and a half, Mahrah province has been witnessing widespread public protests rejecting the presence of Saudi forces and the construction of an oil pipeline that runs from Saudi territory to the province’s ports overlooking the Arabian Gulf.
