Iran issues statement on launching maritime alliance in Gulf waters

TEHRAN, Nov. 9 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement Saturday on the start of a maritime alliance in the Gulf waters led by Washington, with the participation of six other countries.

“The US alliances remained as names no more throughout history, and did not bring security, but led to destabilize the security and stability of the world,” the Iranian Ministry said in its statement, according to Iranian “ISNA” agency.

The statement noted that America is using the names of some countries to legitimize the maritime alliance, adding that “America hides ambitions and goals behind a few countries participating in the alliance, and this shows its weakness and lack of international legitimacy.”

The Iranian ministry called on the countries of the region to rely on their capabilities and those of neighboring countries to achieve sustainable and comprehensive security in the region.

It confirmed that Iran as a country has the longest coastline on the Gulf waters would continue to maintain with full force the economic and security interests in the Gulf.
