SANAA, Nov. 7 (YPA) – Head of the Supreme Judicial Council Judge Ahmed Yahya al-Mutwakil on Thursday stressed the importance of abiding by procedural laws, whether in investigation or trial, and finding urgent solutions to prisoners’ cases.
In the second workshop organized by Mysarah National Foundation for Prisoners Care today on the role of judiciary and prosecution in dealing with prisoners’ issues, judge al-Mutwakil said that the Judicial Inspection Commission would follow up and evaluate prisoners’ cases in all provinces and report all problems to the Supreme Judicial Council.
The workshop reviewed five working papers on slowing litigation proceedings, the judiciary’s role in addressing legal imbalances related to prisoners, the implementation of judicial decisions, the role of non-custodial measures in reducing prison overcrowding, and the legal system and the reality of judicial aid.
