Amidst lack of adequate relief efforts, death toll in Gaza rises to over 58,000

GAZA, July 15 (YPA) – On the 282nd day of ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday morning a significant rise in the number of casualties and injuries.

This surge comes amid relentless Israeli airstrikes and a complete collapse of medical and humanitarian services in the region.

In its daily statistical report, the ministry stated that hospitals in the Gaza Strip received 93 martyrs over the past 24 hours, including five bodies recovered from under the rubble. Additionally, 278 individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The report also issued warnings of further increases in casualties, as many victims remain trapped under debris or stranded in streets, with rescue and civil defense teams unable to reach them due to ongoing bombardments and severe fuel shortages.

Heavy toll since the beginning of the aggression

The Ministry of Health indicated that the total number of deaths since the onset of the aggression on October 7, 2023, has risen to 58,479, with 139,355 wounded, the majority of whom are children and women.

In the same context, the ministry reported 7,656 fatalities and 27,314 wounded following an escalation in occupation attacks, particularly during the period from March 18, 2025, to the present. This reflects the ongoing Israeli military operations, claiming civilian lives on a daily basis.

Martyrs at aid centers

In what is referred to as “martyrs of livelihood,” the ministry reported that six new individuals lost their lives during their attempts to obtain food aid in recent hours. Additionally, over 29 injuries occurred under similar circumstances. This brings the total number of victims targeted while seeking sustenance to 844 deaths and 5,604 wounded.

This development arises amidst the suffocating blockade imposed by the Israeli occupation, severely restricting the entry of humanitarian aid, particularly to northern areas. The blockade forces thousands of civilians, including children and women, to risk their lives in pursuit of a meal to stave off hunger.

Victims under the rubble

The ministry stated that rescue teams are unable to reach an unknown number of victims still trapped under the rubble due to the intensity of the shelling, a lack of essential equipment, and the absence of safe humanitarian corridors. International organizations have described the situation as an ongoing massacre in broad daylight.

A comprehensive health collapse

Amid the continuous rise in the number of victims, the Ministry of Health has once again issued an urgent appeal to the international community, calling for immediate intervention to rescue what remains of the healthcare system.

The ministry highlighted that many hospitals and medical centers are now completely out of service, while the few operating facilities are struggling with severe shortages of medicines, medical supplies, and fuel.

Documented Crimes and International Silence

Despite the well-documented figures and crimes against civilians, international silence continues to dominate the scene.

This comes alongside ongoing Western military and political support for the Israeli occupation, with a noticeable absence of any effective action to halt the daily massacres or provide humanitarian protection for the millions of besieged civilians.
