Freedoms Committee of Parliament discusses prisons situation
SANAA, Oct. 28 (YPA) – The Committee on Public Freedoms and Human Rights of the Parliament in Sanaa on Monday held a joint meeting in the presence of the competent government side to discuss the situation of prisons.
The meeting dealt with a mechanism of forming a committee from the Prisons Division in the Office of the Attorney General, the Committee and the relevant authorities to carry out filed visit to the prisons in the capital Sanaa and assess the conditions of prisoners.
This comes in the light of the Parliament’s recommendations to release all those prisoners against whom no charges have been proven and to refer those found guilty of any offense to the judiciary in accordance with the laws in force.
