Saudi Arabia questioning top ranking Yemeni officers over death of its commander

HARDHRAMAUT, Sept. 25 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has officially accused military leaders loyal to exiled Hadi’s forces of being behind the killing of its commander in Hadhramaut Valley last week, informed military sources reported on Wednesday

According to the military sources, a team of Saudi intelligence officer has arrived on Wednesday in the city of Seiyoun, subjected military commanders in the coalition-backed government headed by commander of the first military region Saleh Tumis for questioning about the death of the commander of the coalition forces in the city of Shabam Hadhramout “Bandar bin al-Otaibi” a Saudi national and four others.
They added that other brigade commanders and military commanders in the region’s operation rooms were also subjected.

The sources explained that the Saudi investigation team wants to get to know the truth about the killing of the commander of the coalition forces, amid accusations of military leaders loyal to “Hadi” and “Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar” of planning to assassinate him.

According to the sources, the investigation revolves around how al-Qaeda operatives know about the Saudi leader’s movements, if they are behind the operation, and whether anyone is sending coordinates and information to them.

On Thursday, Saudi forces’ commander Abu Nawaf al-Otaibi was killed by an explosive device as his convoy passed through the historic city of Shabam.
But the circumstances of his death were not known.

Security sources in Hadhramaut revealed to the Yemen Press Agency that the UAE-backed militias may have been behind the killing of the Saudi leader, in response to the killing of six Emirati soldiers in Aden, in response to accusations by Saudi Arabia that it was behind the attack last week.
