Russia launches initiative to secure stability in Gulf

SANAA, Sept. 2 (YPA) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that the Russian Energy Minister and his Iranian counterpart is to hold talks in the Russian capital Moscow to launch an initiative for Gulf security.

Lavrov said, during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, that the Iran-Russia cooperation is interested in the agreement of the countries of the region aimed at stabilizing and protecting the security of navigation.

Zarif said that Iran welcomed the Russian initiative on the security in the Gulf and ready to sign Non-Offensive Treaty with its neighbors in Gulf region.
