Shabwa tribes repel UAE militia reinforcements in Shabwa

SHABWA, Aug. 23 (YPA) – Military sources of Hadi government said on Friday that tribal groups intercepted military reinforcements coming to back the UAE-backed militias in the occupied Ataq city of Shabwa province, southeast of Yemen.

Several Shabwa tribesmen had flocked to Ataq city to counter reinforcements dispatched by the Southern Transitional Council from the southern cities of Dhalea, Yafea and Lahj under directives of a UAE commander in Balhaf area to control Ataq city.

The dispatch of the transitional council militias’ reinforcements towards the outskirts of Ataq city threatens renewed clashes in the coming hours after Saudi-allied Islah Party militias reinforced by tribesmen managed to expel the UAE-backed militia from the city at dawn on Friday.
