Al-Houthi calls UNHCR to pay attention to reformatories in Yemen

SANAA, Aug. 7 (YPA) – Member of the Supreme Political Council Mohammed Ali al-Houthi on Wednesday called on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) to pay attention to the central reformatories in Yemen and to protect them from Saudi-led coalition’s bombing.

During his meeting in Sanaa with UNHCR’s Resident Representative in Yemen Dr. Al-Obaid Ahmed Al-Obaid, al-Houthi confirmed the readiness of the Republic of Yemen to engage with UNHCR and the United Nations in practical projects that serve Yemeni children at the scientific and health levels, in addition to securing their schools from the US-British-Saudi-Emirati aggression coalition warplanes’ bombing.

Al-Houthi referred that the aggression coalition had previously bombed six reformatories, killing more than 350 prisoners.

He extended an invitation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to visit Yemen to see closely the grave human rights violation committed by the aggression countries in Yemen.

In the meeting, the Supreme Political Council’s member reiterated the refusal to recruit children and the participation of young people in the fighting, noting that early instructions had been issued by the revolution leadership to completely prevent the entry of any child into the battle.
