25 injured in earthquake in southern Philippines
SANAA, July 13 (YPA) – Philippine police said 25 people were injured and a large number of houses, churches and other buildings were damaged early on Saturday after an earthquake shook the population of their homes in the south of the country.
According to the agency “AFP” The earthquake monitoring center in the Philippines that the intensity of the earthquake was 5.8 degrees and hit the northeastern coast of Mindanao at 04:42 (20.42 GMT) and was centered at a depth of 11.8 kilometers.
The center reported at least seven aftershocks after the earthquake.
Rescue teams reported 25 wounded across the region.
Four neighboring towns felt the earthquake, which caused damage to homes, two churches, a hotel, a sports center, a bridge and a local market, the civil defense office in the area said.
The Philippines is located on the “Ring of Fire”, which is experiencing heavy seismic activity in the Pacific Ocean.
