SANAA, May 29 (YPA) – The head of the national delegation, Mohammed Abdul Salam has commented on remarks of the French Foreign Minister about the Saudi-led coalition war on Yemen.
“The remarks made by the French foreign minister are welcome but that is not enough unless it is translated into practice by Paris and stop selling weapons to the countries of aggression,” Mohammed Abdel Salam said in a tweet on Tuesday.
“All countries involved in the sale of weapons to the countries of aggression should reconsider their sales, which left the most heinous massacres against Yemenis,” Mohamed Abdel Salam added.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has reiterated calls for Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to end their war in Yemen, describing the conflict as a “dirty war”.
Yemen is witnessing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, with 22 million people, 75 percent of the population, needing some humanitarian assistance and protection, including 8.4 million people who do not know where to get their next meal.
France is a major supplier of military exports to Saudi Arabia, but has faced significant backlash both domestic and foreign for this policy in recent time.
