SANAA, April 16 (YPA) – The Yemeni Parliament on Tuesday listened and approved the letter of its Speaker Yahya Ali al-Ra’i he directed to the US Congress with its two chambers (the House of Representatives and the Senate).
In the letter, al-Ra’I expressed the Yemeni parliament’s thanks and appreciation to all members of the US Senate who voted for the decision to withdraw the US armed forces from the military operations against the Republic of Yemen.
However, the parliament expressed its concern and dismay at the position of the US ambassador and the US State Department, which supported the meeting of the so-called “Yemeni house of representatives”, which included a number of the parliamentarians existing in Riyadh and in some capitals of the countries participating in the aggression on Yemen, in Sayoun city of Hadrmaout province.
“This support represents interference in Yemeni affairs and a clear violation of international laws and norms, as that meeting constitutes a flagrant violation of Article 66 of the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen,” the letter said.
The letter affirmed that the Sanaa-based Parliament is the legislative institution that represents the Yemeni people with all its political, social and cultural components and holds its sessions regularly in its headquarters in the capital Sanaa and performs its legislative, monitoring and parliamentary functions in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen.
Al-Ra’i demanded that the US congress should work to reverse the US State Department’s position on Sayoun meeting and not deal with that meeting and its outputs, as they are unconstitutional and illegal and contrary to the public interest and the unity of Yemen.
