SANAA, April 5 (YPA) -UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths will likely arrive in Sana’a on Friday for a meeting with the National Salvation Government in order to finalize operational plans for the first phase of the redeployment in the city of Hodeidah, media sources reported on Friday.
General Michael Lollesgaard, chairman of the UN Observing Mission for Redeployment in Hodeidah will also be in Sana’a on Saturday to meet with the UN envoy and representatives of the National Salvation Government, the UN source said.
The redeployment from the ports of Hodeidah, Salef, Ras Issa and critical parts of the city associated with the important humanitarian facilities is the first phase of the Hodeidah agreement, which saw a two-step division.
After the redeployment plan was stalled due to the intransigence of the Riyadh-backed delegation and their lack of seriousness in dealing with the issue decisively, the Envoy returned to revive the agreement and held a shuttle tour, which was announced on March 19 March last year.
After constructive discussions with the parties, there is tangible progress towards agreement on the implementation of the first phase of the re-deployment under the Hodeidah agreement.
Technical details will be presented to the parties in the Redeployment Coordination Committee.
