NEW DELHI, Apr.1 (YPA) – Ten people were killed and two others injured when a four-storey hotel collapsed in a crowded area of India’s central city of Indore late on Saturday, a local police official said.
Assistant sub-inspector Ramesh Kirade said that although the building is old, the cause of its collapse was not immediately known.
According to Local news reports, the building collapsed after a heavy vehicle rammed into it.
The collapse of buildings is frequent in India, unscrupulous builders and officials often dodge regulations or overlook the need to renovate old structures.
In August, a 117-year-old building collapsed in Mumbai’s financial center, killing at least 22 people.
