Explosion rocks US military base in Japan

SANAA, March 25 (YPA) –  An explosion rocked the US Marine base in the central part of Japan’s southern island of Okinawa, Kyodo news agency reported on Monday.

The agency quoted the US military police as saying that unidentified persons managed to reach the site, destroyed part of the fence, and then detonated a gas cylinder in a building used by representatives of the Japanese Ministry of Defense, pointing out that no one was hurt.

The base has a US Marine headquarters in Okinawa, and about 70 percent of all US locations in Japan.
