SANAA, March 17 (YPA) – Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (NSA) on Sunday has announced death toll of heavy rains since Saturday which leads to massive flooding in Papua easternmost province of Indonesia.
“50 people were killed and 59 others injured as a result of floods,” said Sutopo Nugroho, spokesman for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency., adding that “all the injured have been taken to hospitals.”
He expressed concern about the increase of casualties, as rescue teams were unable to reach some areas, noting that the rescue work still ongoing.
Over 68 people were killed in last January after torrential rains and landslides hi South Sulawesi province.
