At least 23 dead in tornadoes in Alabama

SANAA, March 4 (YPA) – At least 23 people were killed in southeastern Alabama on Sunday as damaging tornadoes swept through the area,  ABC News reported.

The number of dead is expected to rise when crews go back out Monday morning, Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said. So far, all of those killed are from the town of Beauregard.

“The number is now 23,” said the NBC local channel “W-TV”, which belongs to the NBC regional police chief. Unfortunately I think that this number will rise. ”

However, the Meteorological Department said several tornadoes hit the area, while CNN reported that two occurred in the area of Lee County while “at least 10 tornadoes” were recorded in Alabama and Georgia on Sunday.
