UAE-backed militias seize sports club in Abyan

ABYAN, Feb. 28 (YPA) – Residents of Ja’ar area of Abyan province, southern Yemen, on Thursday said that armed gangs rub by the UAE-backed security belt militias took over Khanfar Sports Club and he basketball and volleyball courts in the area.

Ja’ar residents carried out a protesting vigil, during which they issued a statement criticizing the complicity of the security services of the exiled Hadi’s government with the armed militias that loot citizens’ land and public property.

Head of the club Qasim Mohammed Qasim said “the armed militias seized the club at gunpoint by claiming that it is a private property, under the collusion of the local authority.”
