SANAA, Feb. 16 (YPA) – A group of British House of Commons deputies have submitted a draft resolution on the arrest of female human rights activists in Saudi Arabia, demanding an investigation into allegations of torture of detainees.
in a statement by deputies, they also called on the government of Teresa May to issue a public statement demanding that Riyadh immediately release those activists.
To date, the project has adopted 18 deputies from the various major parties, after being introduced by the British Labor MP Anne Claud, and will be presented to Parliament for a later vote.
The Parliament also called on the British government to issue a public statement calling for the immediate release of activists detained by the Saudi government.
According to the statement, the British Parliament is concerned about the continued detentions of women’s rights activists in Saudi Arabia, including Jane Hathloul, Aziza al-Yousef, Eman Nafjan and Samar Badawi, months after their arrest in 2018.
