SANAA, Feb. 9 (YPA) – Transport Minister Zakaria al-Shami on Saturday discussed with UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Advisor in Yemen Khaldoon Mohammed the cooperation aspects between the Ministry and the organization in the air, sea and land transport field.
The meeting dealt with the possibility of supporting efforts to develop Sanaa International Airport to serve air navigation, as well as rehabilitating the port of Hodeidah and supplying it with necessary heavy equipment for receiving and unloading ships.
Al-Shami confirmed his ministry’s keenness to cooperate with international organizations working in Yemen in various fields, including transport.
He referred that “the aggression forces targeted economically important vital facilities that serve the Yemeni people,” adding that Sanaa airport and Hodeidah port airport represent “the main artery” for the Yemeni people.
UNOPS adviser voiced the organization’s readiness to support the port of Hodeidah and to develop and modernize Sanaa International Airport, noting that the office supports many developmental and agricultural projects and other important and necessary needs.
