SANAA, Feb. 6 (YPA) – Sudanese authorities on Tuesday failed an attempt to hijack a Sudanese passenger plane flying from Cairo to Khartoum, SUNA news agency reported Tuesday.
According to the SUNA News agency, the plane, belonging to Sudan Airways, was subjected to a kidnapping attempt on Monday.
“A passenger who tried to enter as his two sons driving to hijack the plane”, the agency added.
According to Issam-Eddin Ahmed Mohamed Tahir, director of the Khartoum Airport, the hijacker was among a number of passengers who were deported from Egypt for immigration reasons.
The plane crew managed to control the situation and stop the passenger, he said, adding that the plane completed its flight and landed safely at Khartoum Airport before the hijacker was handed to the authorities.
He confirmed that the security conditions were stable, and the air traffic is not affected by the incident.
