SANAA, Feb. 5 (YPA) – Ministry of the Public Health and Population on Tuesday launched field awareness activities about the importance of immunization against measles and rubella in a number of schools in the capital Sanaa.
During the inauguration ceremony held at Al-Shaimaa School in the Old Sanaa district, Director General of the National Center for Edification and Health and Population Information Dr. Yousef al-Hadhri said that the field awareness in schools aims to motivate students and teachers to participate in the mobilization process and convincing parents and families of the importance of immunization.
The awareness activities include lectures on the fatal childhood diseases and the importance of immunization for prevention from them, as well as information competitions and open discussions with students about these diseases and clarifying the role of the school in improve parents’ knowledge on how to maintain the health of their children and the need to bring them to immunization centers.
Dr. al-Hadhri pointed out the importance of not listening to the rumors alleging that the vaccines come from abroad and that they are unsafe, stressing at the same time the safety of vaccines used in the immunization process.
