11 persons sentenced to death for kidnapping, torturing, murdering

SANAA, Jan. 28 (YPA) – The Court of First Instance in the capital Sanaa on Monday sentenced 11 persons to death for kidnapping, torturing and murdering of the victim Luay Mohammed Abdo Mohammed Saif.

The court’s ruling convicted 13 out of 20 accused of the charges against them in the indictment.

According to the verdict, one of the defendants being sentenced to five years ‘imprisonment from the date of arrest, another defendant was acquitted of the incitement charge and he was sentenced to two and a half years’ imprisonment from the date of his arrest, in addition to the acquittal of seven others.

The court ordered the convicts to hand over six million riyals to the heirs of the victim.

The Criminal Prosecution had charged 20 people with involvement in kidnapping, killing and inciting against the victim and his father, and assaulting the security forces of Sharab al-Rouna district in Taiz province.
