Morocco reveals reasons for withdrawal from Saudi-led coalition

SANAA, Jan. 24 (YPA) – Morocco’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, has disclosed the reasons for his country’ withdrawal from the war coalition led by Saudi Arabia in Yemen.

“Morocco has changed its participation in the coalition based on its assessment of the developments in Yemen and the coalition conduct,” Bourita said on Wednesday in a televised interview with Al-Jazeera TV Channel.

The Moroccan minister explained that Rabat made this assessment based on the basis of development in the political and humanitarian aspects in the Yemeni file.

“There is great concern about the humanitarian aspects in Yemen,” Bourita said. “The United Nations sees what is happening in Yemen as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world and this is disgraceful to all of us.”

He added “the humanitarian aspects must be given more attention, and the Yemeni people do not deserve this suffering.”
