SANAA, March 20 (YPA) – Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Yemen, Antonia Calvo Puerta, who is currently visiting Sanaa, stressed on Tuesday the need to stop the war on Yemen.
“The tragic war in Yemen must stop if we want this unprecedented humanitarian crisis to end,” Puerta said in a statement.
The Yemeni people suffer greatly from this war, which caused one of the worst humanitarian disasters, she added.
She said this visit comes as part of EU’s efforts to communicate with all parties to encourage them to engage in talks to find a lasting political settlement and to convey a number of humanitarian messages.
The statement affirmed that the EU is committed to supporting Yemen and its people, as it has raised its humanitarian assistance since the beginning of the conflict to reach 196 million euros.
An additional 71 million euros will be invested this year in projects for displaced people and for supporting rural communities and agricultural protection, the statement added.
