Deadly clashes between rival militias leaves three dead, including officer in Aden

ADEN, Dec. 26 (YPA) -At least three people, including an officer, were killed in clashes between the rival militias groups in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden on Wednesday, a local source told Yemen Press Agency.

A quarrel between groups of militants, which broke out in the Mansourah district turned into armed confrontations in the 37th neighborhood near the district’s post office, according to the sources.

Gunfire was exchanged and three people died, including an officer.

The confirmed names of the dead are Mohammed Dajajah and Majid al-Mashdaly with a third person not yet identified, the sources added.

The sources indicated that the victim Majid al-Mashdaly is a criminal investigation officer in the Mansoura police force, who tried to intervene in order to solve a conflict among the Saudi-backed militias.

Aden, which has been under Saudi-UAE military occupation since March 2015, has fallen into chaos and violence ever since, with rival mercenary and terrorist groups fighting one another in the city
