Tribes clash with Islah Party militias in Marib

MARIB, Dec. 24 (YPA) – Violent clashes broke out on Monday between al-Ashraf tribes and Islah Party militias loyal to Saudi-led coalition in the vicinity of Marib city.

The clashes, which lasted more one hour, took place against the backdrop of the killing of a tribesman and his wife by the militias fire in a checkpoint located at an entrance of the city, according to sources.

The sources said that the militia intercepted the way of Abdullah bin Farid bin Haidar, a member of the al-Ashraf tribe, while he was transferring his wife to the hospital, and opened fire on him after a quarrel with him.

Haidar and his wife were killed and another woman was seriously injured during the shooting, they added.

The tribes gathered at the entrances of Marib city and attacked the security points with light and medium weapons, which resulted in burning of two military pick-up cars.

However, a tribal mediation has been able to stop the shooting between the two sides, but the militias threatened to wage an open war on the al-Ashraf tribes, accusing them of attempting to undermine security of the city.
