UN team in Hodeidah on Saturday to oversee implementation of Sweden agreements

SANAA, Dec. 20 (YPA) – A UN team, headed by Dutch General Patrick Cammaert, is expected to arrive Saturday in Hodeidah province, where it is expected to start monitoring the implementation of the agreements recently reached by Yemen consultations in Sweden.

A task that the Security Council is expected to vote within hours on a draft resolution supporting it, at a time when the process of exchange of prisoners and detainees head for a more advanced stage, which will enhance optimism about the course of truce.

For the second day in a row, the province of Hodeidah was calm, despite limited violations in a number of its districts. A calm that its continuation was reinforced by the start of meetings of the “redeployment coordination committee” on the implementation of the Hodeidah agreement, in a move ahead of the arrival of the UN team, which will chair the Committee this week, to Yemen.

As practical steps have been taken to implement the first understandings of Sweden talks, represented in the exchange of prisoners, Britain announced that the vote on its draft resolution in the Security Council will be in next hours.

Military sources of Ansaruallah said that chairman of the coordination committee, General Cammaert, held on Wednesday an online meeting with representatives of both Sanaa authorities and the government loyal to Riyadh.

The sources described the meeting as “successful”, revealing that Cammaert would arrive with a team of twenty members to Sanaa on Saturday, and would go to Hodeidah on the same day, adding that the meetings will begin on Sunday between the two parties under his chairmanship.

According to the sources, the UN team will start Thursday the logistical arrangements for the implementation of its tasks, which are to oversee the work of the Coordination Committee, and to submit weekly reports on the extent of compliance by the parties to the obligations required from them.
