Southern factions intensive presence on fronts, but not welcomed in Sweden consultations
SANAA, Dec, 10 (YPA) – After four years of aggressive war led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Yemen, the delegations of Sanaa and the Riyadh-backed Hadi regime have both gone to Sweden in order to participate in the UN-sponsored consultations.
The delegation of Sanaa is formed from all components who are real partners of national steadfastness and resistance. They have been challenging the Saudi-led coalition forces, and the so-called “legitimacy” of the Hadi regime (including the Islah party and parts of the General People’s Congress).
However, the delegation of Riyadh has ignored the most important southern Yemeni separatist organization: the Southern Transitional Council (STC) headed by Aidarous Zubaidi.
On September 4, the international envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, met with the Transitional Council in Aden.
The UN Envoy assured them of his commitment to the southern factions and promised to involve them in the upcoming political process in Yemen, but ultimately only the delegation that was approved by Saudi Arabia and UAE arrived in Sweden.
The STC’s exclusion from Sweden’s consultations has been widely ridiculed and condemned by southern activists.
The Southern Transitional Council woke up after two days of consultations to find itself removed from the future being negotiated in Sweden and outside of the map drawn in Stockholm.
The STC is expected to release a statement expressing its anger and dissatisfaction with the exclusion, and likely will consider the results of the Sweden negotiations as non-binding result.
Observers have confirmed the reports that the invasion coalition has only been using the people of southern regions as cannon fodder in their battles against the forces of Sanaa, something that the national salvation government has always warned for.
Reports said that southerners are being mocked by the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which send their loyalists to profit of victories, while the southern tribesmen of Sabihah, Yafe and Abyan are fighting and dying at the frontlines for Saudi ambitions.
