WFP: Over 18 million people are at risk of starvation in Yemen

SANAA, Nov.17 (YPA) – Over  18 million people are at risk of starvation in at least six months if the situation in Yemen continues to decline at current rates,” said the World Food Program (WFP), director David Paisley.

“The port of Hodeidah should be kept open to commercial traffic,” Paisley said during a press conference held on Thursday evening at the UN headquarters in New York.

He added that “the port of Hodeidah must be protected at any cost and must remain open.”

David Paisley indicated that “between 70% and 80% of Yemen’s commercial imports come through this port, so it must remain open, and we are ready to operate it.”
