Financial Times: Washington sanctions hurt Iranians, but will not make difference

SANAA, Nov. 7 (YPA) – The Financial Times on Wednesday published an editorial on the sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump on Iran and its effectiveness.

In the editorial, the paper said the US sanctions are hurting Iran but will not lead to change in the country.

The paper applauds the Europeans’ adherence to the nuclear deal with Tehran.

Despite Trump’s pledge to reduce Iran’s oil exports to zero, his administration has announced six-month exemptions to China, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkeyf or importing Iranian oil, and the imports of all these eight countries of Iranian oil reached  to 2.7 million barrels per day during May, according to the paper.

The six -month exemptions to the eight countries are evidence, according to the newspaper, that Trump is afraid of rising oil prices.
