Technical Education Minister meets UNICEF Deputy Representative in Yemen

SANAA, Oct. 23 (YPA) – The Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Ghazi Ahmed Ali Mohsen, on Tuesday discussed with the Deputy Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Yemen, Sherin Faraki, the aspects of joint cooperation in the field of technical and vocational training.
In the meeting, the Minister reviewed the difficulties facing the development of the technical education sector, especially in light of the aggression that destroyed about 72 technical education facilities in different governorates.
The Minister expressed the hope of the Ministry from UNICEF to support many programs of technical education, especially with regard to the printing of curricula and the rehabilitation and restoration of technical institutes and the allocation of a monthly incentive for the cadres and education and training of girls.

For his part, the Deputy Representative of UNICEF reviewed organization support programs in many areas, including health, nutrition, education, child protection, water and sanitation.
He pointed out that support is currently concentrated in the shadow of war and siege on education, the fight against cholera and the danger of famine, expressing the readiness of the organization to support technical education programs, and push children to join technical and vocational institutes.
During the meeting, the officials stressed on the formation of a technical engineering team from the relevant sectors of the ministry, as well as a technical team from the organization to visit a number of institutes in capital Sanaa, to review the problems facing the institutes and identify the needs to be provided by the organization.
