SANAA, Oct. 20 (YPA) – The French landing ship carrier Dixmude will not be able to participate in North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) exercises in the North Sea, due to a helicopter crash on board of the ship.
The French Defense Ministry announced that an NH-90TTH helicopter has crashed on the Dixmude ship on the evening of October 17 October when the ship was located in the North Sea, According to Sputnik reporter.
The helicopter collapsed during takeoff and landed on board the ship. Its crew remained intact, while four sailors were injured aboard the ship, the reporter said.
One of them was seriously injured and was taken to the nearest military hospital aboard another helicopter, he added.
The incident requires that the ship should be returned to the French naval force base to reveal the causes.
