Health minister calls on UN to pressure coalition to save victims in Tuhita and Durihami districts

SANAA, Oct. 12 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakil  on Friday called on United Nations, international organizations and the international community to put pressure on the Saudi-led coalition and its allies to stop their dangerous escalation  in Tuhita and Durihami districts in Yemen’s Red Sea Port City of Hodeidah, so that the Ministry and the International Committee of the Red Cross could carry out their humanitarian duty to bring the wounded out.

In a letter to the United Nations, Dr. Al-Mutawakil blamed the UN system and its bodies for their failure to the humanitarian catastrophe in the two districts.

Dozens of wounded, most of them children and women are threatened with death at any moment, he said in the letter.

He pointed to the inability of the Ministry, the International Red Cross, and the Yemeni Red Crescent to move to aid the wounded as a result of aerial and naval bombardment on civilian objects, private and public facilities.

Especially after the General Hospital in Durihami district and the maternity and childhood hospital and their ambulance cars that were provided by the World Health Organization were destroyed, he added.
