Yemen revolutionary committee leader sends peace initiative to UN
SANAA, Feb. 22 (YPA) – Chief of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee, Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, has sent a letter to the secretary-general of the United Nations and members of the Security Council, offering a peace initiative to resolve the Yemeni conflict, according to the letter seen by Yemeni Press Agency.
The letter was sent to the UN on Wednesday.
The initiative included the following points:
- Forming a reconciliation committee.
- Holding presidential and parliamentary elections.
- Providing international guarantees to begin reconstruction.
- Preventing any foreign military aggression on Yemen.
- Declaring a general amnesty and releasing all detainees of each party.
- Putting any dispute file for referendum.
Al-Houthi called on the members of the Security Council to visit Yemen to inspect the humanitarian catastrophes caused by the coalition forces.
