HR ministry welcomes UNHRC’s extension for int’l probe team in Yemen
SANAA, Sept. 29 (YPA) – The Ministry of Human Rights welcomed the UN Human Rights Council’s decision to extend the work of experts team to investigate human rights violations and crimes of Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.
In a statement, the Ministry considered this decision a positive step in the right direction to redress the victims of violations and ensure justice and non-impunity.
The Ministry reiterated its readiness to continue cooperation with the team of Experts and to exert all possible efforts in order to enable it to perform its tasks and overcome the difficulties it may face.
The ministry commended the efforts and positions of the countries that adopted the draft extension of the team and voted for it.
The ministry expressed its regret for the countries that have reserved and those who voted against the draft, calling on these countries to review their positions that support intentionally or unintentionally the positions of coalition and its continuing attempts to hide the crimes and violations committed against millions of civilians in Yemen.
The Ministry of Human Rights also renewed its call for the formation of an impartial and independent international commission with a full and undiminished mandate to investigate crimes and violations against Yemenis.
The ministry also commended the great efforts of the Human Rights Council to promote universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without discrimination and to seek to expose human rights violators.
