SANAA, Sep. 16 (YPA) – Sudanese economic expert, Abdullah Hamdok , refused on Saturday officially became the finance minister in the new government of Sudan, the Sudan News Agency reported.
According to the Sudanese agency, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, after Hamdok officially announced his apology for taking office, has appointed new Prime Minister Moataz Moussa Abdullah to take over the finance portfolio.
Bashir appointed the prime minister last week and has been instructed to cut the number of ministers in the new government by a third as part of a plan to cut government spending in a country whose economy suffers from high inflation and a severe shortage of hard currency.
Sudan faces an inflation of about 64 percent on a year-on-year basis and a shortage of Foreign currency which led to a shortage of commodities such as fuel and bread.
