Citizens in Taiz protest against currency decline

TAIZ, Sep. 4 (YPA) – Citizens in Taiz city, southeast Yemen, on Tuesday took to the streets in a protest to demand the government of the exiled Hadi and the Saudi-led coalition countries to stop the local currency deterioration that led to the increasing of prices.

The protesters said that the continued collapse of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies caused high prices and the deterioration of the living situation, calling on the government in Aden to pay out all the salaries of officials and senior positions in Yemeni riyal instead of US dollar according to the law.

They held the government responsible for the catastrophic economic crisis taking place in the country, as a result of the raise of dollar exchange rate against the Yemeni riyal.
